Day 01
Arrival / Negombo
Welcome to Sri Lanka. Your adventure begins in the town of Negombo, located close to Bandaranaike International Airport. Those arriving early can get into the spirit of seaside Sri Lanka by observing the local fishing craft and perhaps feasting on fresh seafood. The beautiful surrounding countryside is best explored on a bicycle, which you can rent with help from the hotel reception.
Day 02/03 & 04
Negombo / Sigiriya / Cultural Triangle
Once we have explored Negombo sufficiently, we will travel on to one of the most sought-out sights of Sri Lanka, the Lion Rock. SItuated in Sigiriya, the Lion Rock is filled with age-old frescoes and is a testament to amazing views. Following that, we will journey on to the Cultural Triangle, which includes exploring the ruins of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. We will return to Sigiriya to turn in for the 4th day.
Day 05 & 06
Sigiriya / Kandy
The next leg of our journey is to travel from Sigiriya to Kandy. It’s a 3.5-hour drive, so get to know your fellow travellers during the journey. Your afternoon is free, so perhaps head out and indulge in some of Kandy’s natural and historical attractions. The Peradeniya Botanic Gardens offer both – the sculpted lawns were once a private playground for Kandyan royalty. In the evening, watch a traditional dance performance set to percussive rhythms.
Day 07 & 08
Ella / Hill country
From Kandy we will journey up the hills to Ella. The gorgeous highlands await you today, so rise and shine for the journey to Nuwara Eliya. The evergreen hills and cool climate made this town a primary retreat for British colonialists in the 19th century, and many buildings remain from this period, earning it the nickname ‘Little Britain’. Stop in at a tea factory and learn about the process of cultivating the region’s fragrant, highly regarded varieties. Nuwara Eliya remains an incredibly important tea-growing area, and the plantations that dot the hillside make for lovely scenery. Return to Kandy and maybe ask your leader where you can grab a nice kottu roti (chopped roti with vegetables and plenty of spices). Kandy was one the world’s primary source of cinnamon and a variety of spices are grown the area, which makes for food that is bursting with flavour.
Day 09 & 10
Yala National Park / Yala
On Day 09, we will go on a safari tour to Yala. Filled with exotic animals and flora alike, you can spend these two days on a thrilling safari tour and get your fill of the Sri Lankan wildlife.
Day 11
Yala / Galle Fort / Galle Coast
From Yala, we will journey towards the south coast to Galle, one of the most tourist-friendly places in Sri Lanka. On this day, you can relax near the beach, visit the Galle Dutch Fort and also explore the vintage town with all its boutique shops to your heart's desire.
Day 12, 13 & 14
Koggala / Galle Coast / Departure
From Galle, we will journey towards Koggala, the hometown of veteran writer Dr. Martin Wickramasinghe. we can visit the museum situated in Koggalaasnd journey back to Galle for the night. On the 14th day, we will bid you adieu as you board your plane with a heart full of memories.
